Who is Wesley Barrett?
I am a lifelong resident, business owner, and community supporter.
I grew up in one of the original subdivisions in the township off of Fish Hatchery Rd, graduated from Emmaus High School in 1999 and bought my first home in Emmaus in 2003 after graduating from Quinnipiac University. I became a township resident again in 2018.
My wife and I met as 9th graders at Emmaus High School, and are proudly raising our two boys in the East Penn School District.
I’ve dedicated thousands of hours toward helping make our community a better place to live.
Business Experience
I started my first business, Wesley Works, as a 12 year old in 1992 and continue to grow that same business and a few others, right here in our community. Our businesses, “Wesley Works” are involved in multiple markets and employ almost 60 people. We are celebrating our 33rd year in business, which is a unique statement to be able to say as a 44 year old. Wesley Works includes a DJ & Photography business, a non-franchise Real Estate Office, and a Property Development company. (Wesley Works DJ & Photography, Wesley Works Real Estate, and Wesley Works Properties)
Community & Local Government Experience
I served three elected terms on the Emmaus Borough Council from 2005 – 2018, before I moved back to Lower Macungie. During that time, I established a reputation for creating efficient government, cutting a combined total of nearly $2,500,000 out of the annual budget, without reducing any services. I have been a member of the Lower Macungie Township Planning Commission for the past 6 years and am currently the Chairperson. Through strong leadership, we have been able to uphold strict design standards and generate quality projects. In 2007, I founded the Emmaus Halloween Parade 5K Race and have served as the race director for the past 18 years. This race is a community fundraiser and has raised nearly $180,000, dedicated to the park system and public safety projects.
